The Last Ritual of a Domesticated Building

“People in a Building Without the Building”, from 8th to 9th April 2016, Milan.

“The last ritual of a domesticated building” is a project developed for “People in a Building without the Building”, an event curated by Kunstverein Milano and Careof during the 2016 MiArt fair in Milan, 24 hours before the demolition of such building (Ex Guarmet–former jewelry factory). People in a Building Without the Building is organized as a collective action, made of performances, interventions, sound pieces and djset. “The last ritual of a domesticated building” is the last action within the Ex-Guarmet, thus trying to be its celebratory ritual, before it definitely disappears. For the last time, the spatiality of the domesticated building is altered. Hence, during its last days, it will live in a new and wild modality. The action consisted in the removal of some elements of the building such as neon lights, drywall, and furniture. Such architectural and spatial interventions, mainly driven by the use of the color and by the replacement of those elements with a new layout, will work as support of the whole event.
All the artworks of the different artists give life to a coral action: a series of specific languages and practices that the participants thought in relation to that place.
